Literacy Survey

  • PDF

UNESCO is supporting the Ministries of Education and Vocational Training in Tanzania (Mainland and Zanzibar) to survey the status and impact of youth and adult literacy programmes. The goal of the survey is to understand learning challenges for youth and adults across the country, and to inform a constructive response to strengthen their knowledge and skills.

On the mainland, the survey will be based on a representative sample of all adult literacy centres with adult learners aged 15 years and above, from both public and private literacy centres in nineteen regions. In Zanzibar, the survey will assess the effectiveness of the existing literacy centres and programmes, to inform the strategy of the ministry and its partners to effectively strengthen them.
