Training workshop on Mobile Learning and ICT Integration in Teaching and LearningUNESCO Dar es Salaam Office is conducting a training workshop for teachers college tutors on Mobile Learning and ICT Integration in Teaching and Learning.

The workshop, which is being held at Morogoro Teachers College from 8th to 12th January 2018, is involving a total of 22 tutors from 11 public teachers colleges namely, Vikindu, Tandala, Sumbawanga, Nachingwea, Mtwara (U), Mpuguso, Mhonda, Morogoro, Kitangali, Dakawa, and Ilonga.

The aim of the workshop is to strengthen the capacities of English and Swahili Language tutors in the use of available ICT tools and mobile applications for effective teaching and learning of language subjects in teachers colleges.   The workshop is being conducted within the framework of the UNESCO-China Funds-in-Trust (CFIT) Project on “Enhancing Teacher Education for Bridging the Education Quality Gap in Tanzania”.

The training has built awareness to the language tutors on the capability of the widely accessible mobile phones in improving the quality of teaching and learning through readily available mobile applications for education. It was interesting to note that most tutors (91%) have smart phones, which they use for facilitating communication and accessing social media sites. This training has been very enlightening to the tutors who have promised to utilize the knowledge and skills gained on Mobile Learning to improve their teaching practices.
